Strong start for IDL and Tom Sharp.

The IDL car of Camberley racer Tom Sharp got the 2010 season off and running over the Easter weekend in the BTCC supporting Ginetta G50 Cup at Thruxton (Andover), with strong showings and good point's scores throughout the first three races.

Qualifying for the first round of the G50 Cup got underway in changeable conditions, starting wet but gradually drying towards the end of the session forcing the majority of the grid to change over to the Michelin slick racing tyre. The final lap of the session saw the number 10 car of Tom Sharp jump from sixteenth to third with a masterful final lap in tricky conditions.

World Touring Car ace Rob Huff stared in the Ginetta guest car for the opening round and quickly showed his class qualifying on the front row and taking honours in race one. Meanwhile the car of Tom Sharp struggled to find the grip in the wet conditions after oil had been left of the circuit from a previous race but managed to finish in a solid fourth place.

Race two of the weekend and yet again it was Rob Huff that won the race followed closely by Frank Wrathall. Tom Sharp again started to struggle from mid part of the race with electrical problems and a spin on the last lap of the race dropped him to last place where he would then have to start the final race.

From the back row of the grid, Sharp quickly started to make his way through the traffic to finish the race in eighth place, making his way past ten cars in the process and all the while setting lap times close to those of the leading pack.

The next action from the Ginetta G50 Cup can be seen at Rockingham motor speedway 24-25 April.
