WIN BY N. TANDY AND POINTS FOR TUDOR'S P. HUISMAN

Nicholas Tandy (Konrad Motorsport) and team mate Patrick Huisman continued to collect Championship points for their team in Hungary with a win for Tandy and 7th place for Huisman. After the race weekend in Hockenheim, their combined results had already brought their team to 2nd Overall in the Championship. After this weekend the standings see Konrad Motorsport (GER) with a total of 180 points, behind the current leader in the classification Al Faisal Lechner Racing (KSA) with 226 points.

Huisman qualified in P8 while the pole went to Tandy. Sean Edwards (Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit) was next on the start grid and finished in 2nd, followed by the current leader of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Rene Rast (Al Faisal Lechner Racing), who finished the race in 3rd.

In Budapest race conditions were very hot with air temperatures at 26 degrees Centigrade. The start of the 14-lap race saw a number of incidents for some of the front and mid-field runners. There was a collision between Norbert Siedler (VELTINS MRS Racing) and Stefan Rosina (Lechner Racing), along with another accident involving four more cars that led to a safety car for the race.

Race winner Nicholas Tandy admitted to a fantastic day. "The work invested by the team worked. We were able to maximize our race and if we continue this winning trend we can take the championship this year. This is my second win this season and I am really pleased for the team. We started from pole and we got the job done. Let's see what the next two races can bring us, anything can always happen."

2nd place finisher Sean Edwards said, "This race was the easiest race that I've had to drive for a long time and I'm so glad for the team to score this podium. I was safe enough in 2nd and I did not have to fight for positions. Our set-up was good for the start and the first few laps. I could not get a good restart after the safety car but with this 2nd position we are where we need to be."

Rene Rast admitted he was disappointed with his 3rd place finish but added, "At least I scored good points for the team. What is important is to protect the team's world championship ranking."

Tudor driver Patrick Huisman commented, "This is great for the team but overall, it was a long and busy weekend. The free practice was not easy for the tyres and I picked up a lot of dirt, so in the end I was driving on ice. I had other issues with the brakes and when I came out of the pits next, my gearbox broke. I was unhappy with the balance of the car so we changed a lot and I took inspiration from my team mate's set-up as the team had tested here before. It was a good initiative as the times were good for me in qualifying, but I was too careful. In the race, my clutch got stuck and I almost stalled, then the car was difficult to drive and was bouncing a lot. The pace car helped a bit because life was tough out there, but in the end, I missed many turns and struggled a lot, just like most of the competitors. Now, I am just looking forward to the team tests in Monza this week to prepare for the two last races of the season, Spa and Monza."
