Indianapolis Sunday round six race notes

SAELENS MAKES IT A DOUBLE WITH SUNDAY WIN IN ROUND #6 OF THE PORSCHE MICHELIN SUPERCUP RACE AT INDIANAPOLIS

INDIANAPOLIS - June 19 - David Saelens from Belgium took all the important Porsche Michelin Supercup titles this weekend, both pole positions and wins in both races, including Sunday's round #6 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Driving his Pro FuturaRacing Team Kadach Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, Saelens again had a perfect standing start, and again held off veteran Allesandro Zampedri of Italy, who won the Supercup race in Spain earlier this season. But, with his second-place finish - his fourth of the season - Zampedri takes the points lead in his Lechner Racing School Porsche over teammate Patrick Huisman. Huisman spun out and could not continue after making contact with Richard Westbrook and Christian Menzel early in the event. Westbrook was also forced to retire after the incident - and also received no points.

Saelens is now second in points, and Huisman is third.

Third in the race was the Jetstream Motorsport Porsche of Jeroen Bleekemolen, who challenged Zampedri during the early part of the race, and actually passed him for second place on lap nine, but couldn't hold the pass as Zampedri re- passed him on the next turn.

Guest drivers Mark Gillies, executive editor of AUTOMOBILE magazine, and Travis Pastrana, extreme motocross champion, finished 11th and 14th respectively in their 2005 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.
