Formula Euroseries - Rounds 3 & 4 Colmar Berg, Luxembourg

After qualifying on pole for both rounds, the entire team was feeling very good - but not over confident. Their sights were set - concentrate and take one step at a time.

Race 3

American Paul Edwards was starting on the pole with Italian Anapoli Giovanni racing for Vergani Racing joining him on the front row. Darren Malkin and Tomas Scheckter (son of Jody Scheckter) were on the second row. (All hard competitors!) Paul took the lead and held on. After 4 laps, he was being seriously challenged by Darren Malkin. Paul managed to avoid a tire that jumped onto the track, Malkin touched it slightly but he was able to finish in third place. Paul finished up front by 4 seconds. A WIN FOR USA!

1 - Edwards 2 - Scheckter 3 - Malkin 4 - Domingos 5 - Sato

Jacky Van der Ende, who won the first 2 rounds, finished in 9th place, however, he did not obey a black flag and was disqualified.

Race 4

Paul was on pole again for the second race of the weekend. It is a 22 lap race - but this time, Jacky Van der Ende is off pole and followed by Scheckter and Malkin. Off the line it was Paul and Scheckter - they were 4-5 car lengths in front of the pack going into the 95 mph chicane off the first corner. Everyone had been clipping the tires here all weekend, and when they replaced them before this race, they had moved them in, making it an even tighter chicane, which nobody had practiced or was prepared for, so - big crash. Paul took off one corner of his car and Scheckter lost 3 corners of his car. The decision was to allow time for repairs and the race would be restarted. However, there was not enough time left to fully repair either car, so neither Paul nor Scheckter restarted the race. Van der Ende ultimately had an incident and he did not finish, and Malkin had an infraction that claimed a 10 second penalty. This allowed Vergani Racing to claim the top 3 finishes.

1 - Carlos Domingos 2 - Christian Mackenna 3 - Anapoli Giovanni 4 - Takuma Sato

Although it was hard to watch this race from the sidelines and we could have taken the lead in the championship, there are 16 races to dominate! We were fast throughout the weekend, we had 2 pole positions and a win, with no mechanical problems - so we'll go onto the next race with confidence.

The next race is at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium - June 5 & 6.
