NATCC Set to Run On Michelin Tires

Tampa, Florida - Michelin North America and the North American Touring Car

Championship have signed a three year agreement naming Michelin as a major associate sponsor and exclusive tire supplier to the Championship. As an additional major component of Michelin's involvement, the winner of the Manufacturers Championship will be awarded the Michelin Cup at the end of each season.

"This is the best possible combination available for the teams competing in the NATCC," said Roger Elliot, President of the North American Touring Car Championship. "Michelin is the premier tire in Super Touring championships all around the world. The superior quality of the Michelin Pilot tire ensures that our teams will start with, and stay with, the very best available. Michelin's long heritage in motorsport speaks volumes about their commitment to being a world leader. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship."

"There is a stability inherent with Michelin as our exclusive supplier which we're extremely interested in," added Elliot. "In other programs, a significant amount of time and money is spent among competing tire companies and, as a result, competing teams. With Michelin on board, the teams can put all that to one side and simply know they're running the best tire available on a level playing field. The outcome of the races will be determined by the drivers and the cars."
