MIAMI, July 25, 2014 – Founded in 1994 and currently one of the two biggest online media in the world dedicated to motor racing, Motorsport.com is proud to present its new online platform. This new web site and content management system combined with a growing editorial team, is positioning Motorsport.com to become the clear worldwide leader in its business, especially after a stellar year that saw its traffic double.

Five key elements

The new Motorsport.com platform was developed around five key elements:

  • The growing number of mobile viewers - more than half of its traffic is now coming from mobile devices.
  • The importance of social media outlets and their impact on the way viewers interact with content.
  • New international markets are more and more important in racing.
  • Its own database of content: tighter integration and more ways to use it.
  • Revenue streams optimization.

The result is a new platform that integrates a myriad of new refinements and functionalities. At the center of it all is a fully responsive layout that is perfect on any device, from a smartphone to a large size monitor.

We have used a very clean and flexible approach, which is key to a good responsive design.

The new design is also much cleaner and neutral. The integration of text, photos and video is seamless and simple, designed to make both first-time visitors and longtime readers comfortable, no matter where they are coming from.

Not only the new platform is 100 percent compatible with its historical content database and widely acclaimed racing series structure, but it also integrates many new filters. Thanks to its database-driven structure, Motorsport.com’s library of news, videos and 1.7 million photos (the biggest in the world) can be viewed using an infinite number of ways.

A flexible and clean approach for the frontend design and backend CMS

Motorsport.com’s Vice President Operations and co-founder Eric Gilbert: “While the development of the new Motorsport.com platform was done over a six-month cycle by our own in-house team, it actually represents the sum of 15 years of experience and dialog with our audience. In many ways, we have used a ‘back to basic’ approach with this new design: gone are all the non-necessary graphics and fixed layout grid. The content itself is at the center of the design in a device-agnostic layout. We have used a very clean and flexible approach, which is key to a good responsive design. This simple visual environment is also ideal for our advertising and corporate partners to associate their brand with our content.”

As Motorsport.com is gearing up to deploy an international network with different partners, its new custom-built content management system is as impressive as the frontend design. This CMS is flexible, easy to use for any editor in any language, and takes advantage of any form of content: news, features, photos, videos and social media content.

With this system in place, Motorsport.com aims at being the one brand of choice for any viewer around the world whenever and wherever they need to consult motor racing content.
