ALL EYES ON CALTEX DRIVER FOGG THIS WEEKEND

All eyes will be on Caltex Star Mart driver Angus Fogg heading into the final round of the 2005/06 Parker ENZED New Zealand Touring Car championship at Pukekohe this weekend.

Fogg is the leading Ford driver going into the season finale at the annual Placemakers V8 Supercar meeting at Pukekohe and only 34 points separate him from the top spot.

That makes him hot property as far as the country's legion of Ford fans are concerned, though the hype and hoopla preceeding New Zealand's biggest motor racing meeting has very much passed him by.

"In terms of what we do before a meeting and what we plan to do during a meeting it is no different to any of the others," he said this morning.

"Sure it is a very cool meeting to be at because it's the premier meeting of the year but for us it is pretty much head down the whole way.

"In terms of what we want to achieve? Again. It's the same as at any other meeting. We want to do the best we can, try and stay out of trouble and get as many points as we can."

With over 100,000 fans expected at Pukekohe Park over the three-days of the Placemakers V8 meeting, the venue will - literally - be alive, with the grandstands packed and every vantage point taken.

The Parker ENZED New Zealand V8s get two test sessions on Friday qualifying and one 10 lap race on Saturday and two 18 lap races on Sunday.

The Caltex Racing team got the 2005/06 Parker ENZED season off to a great start at the first round at Pukekohe Park back in November last year with Angus Fogg claiming pole position in qualifying then carding a 3-6-10 run through the races, despite struggling with a tyre delaminating problem.

Since then Fogg has won two of the six rounds of the 2005/06 championship series outright and - as the points prove - heads to the final in a very good position.

Teammate Paul Pedersen, driving the Caltex Havoline Ford Falcon, set the third fastest time in qualifying at the season opening round and finished second in the first and second races. He claimed third race wins at both Timaru and Manfeild.
