OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (July 30, 2000) - Steve Allison won the 100-lap PRO Supertruck event to capture his second win of the season this past weekend. Sooner International Speedway, located in Altus, Okla., was invaded by the 550-horsepower PRO Supertrucks for a two-day event.

The weekend began with Eric Caudell of Okla. City, OK posting a fast time of 19.67 at the high banked asphalt 1/2 mile. This set up the Pole Dash for the 6 fastest qualifiers. Caudell and Allison battled early until Allison briefly left the track knocking his exhaust loose.

1999 PRO Supertruck Series Champion, Joe Madore, moved into second and made several attempts to pass the leader but could not. With one lap to go, Madore got a run on Caudell coming out of turn four and made the pass for the win.

In post-race inspection, however, Madore's spoiler was found to be 3/8" too high and he would have to start the feature on the last row.

The start of the 100-lap main event saw three lead changes in the first five laps with Garrett Miller, Caudell and C.J. Smith all taking turns.

On lap 25 the red flag waved as Caudell's #7 Chevrolet put down oil and caught fire, which was quickly extinguished. When the race resumed, Smith led until the mandatory pit stop on lap 50.

After the stops, Allison took his Chevrolet to the lead. Madore, who had made his way into second, challenged Allison until lap 87 when Madore's Ford F-150 developed engine problems. That left Allison unchallenged for the remaining 13 laps as this Broken Arrow, Okla., native extended his points lead and took the checkers for his second feature win in a row.

The 50-lap factory stock race was won by Bobby Lowery of Oklahoma City. Lowery came from last starting position to earn the winners check of $1,000.

The PRO Supertruck Series' next stop will be at Red River Speedway on August 19.
