SBRS: Skip Barber Instructor in the One Lap Hunt

Skip Barber Racing School instructor Paul Garrard remains in the hunt for the overall lead in the nine-day epic known as the Michelin One Lap of America presented by Car and Driver.

Garrard has maintained the lead virtually all through this road rally inspired by the infamous Cannonball road rally of the 1970's. Co-driving a behemoth known as a Mercedes Benz RennTech 600 SL with owner Dan Kary, the pair have dominated most of the track sessions that have visited circuits like Michigan International Raceway, Road Atlanta and Lime Rock Park on its round trip trek from Michigan to Florida and back via Virginia, Connecticut, Ohio and all points between.

The penultimate day saw them lose their lead, as Garrard couldn't quite get the most of his powerful steed around the historic Nelson Ledges track in Ohio. The pair has now slipped into second place with the event's terminus returning to its original departure point at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan. Stay tuned to see if Garrard can retake the lead in this motorcar mad odyssey.
