First win for Wolf Henzler - Alex Zampedri's points lead deminishes

Stuttgart. Wolf Henzler from Germany celebrated the first victory of his Supercup career in Silverstone. Starting from second on the grid, the 27-year-old snatched the lead from his team mate Stephane Ortelli (Monaco) braking into the first corner and held on to it until the chequered flag.

In the second of twelve laps Frenchman Christophe Bouchut passed Stephane Ortelli to take second place. Whilst Bouchut kept hold of his second position to the finish, despite rain setting in from the ninth lap, Ortelli experienced braking problems and fell back to fifth place.

Guest starter Marc Lieb (Germany) crossed the finish line third in front of Emmanuel Collard from France. Marco Werner (Switzerland), who won the fourth round on the A1-Ring, was plagued by bad luck: In the first corner a competitor nudged his Porsche into a spin. Werner dropped back to 14th but finished the sprint tenth overall. His team mate Philipp Peter (Monaco) suffered problems with the fuel supply before the race and remained in the paddock.

Taking eighth in the race, Alessandro Zampedri (Italy) retains his points lead, albeit with a smaller advantage to Stephane Ortelli who now sits second overall just four points in arrears. Wolf Henzler now ranks third in the drivers' classification, with Marcel Tiemann (Monaco) catapulting up to fourth in the standings after securing sixth at the Silverstone race.

Wolf Henzler (winner): "In the first couple of laps I could pull away from the rest of the field, and to be honest from that point the race was more or less in the bag, so I didn't take any risks. When it began to rain I would have preferred to carry the car to the finish. Our team worked perfectly - I hope we can repeat the result at Hockenheim in two weeks time."

Christophe Bouchut (second): "I started well, then I got caught up in a duel with Stephane over several laps and lost touch with Wolf Henzler. Perhaps I could have passed Stephane earlier but it was simply too risky in the quick corners. Once I was in second and the rain began I just held on tight and concentrated on bringing home the points."

Marc Lieb (third): "My car understeered badly in the first two laps and I had to push like crazy to keep up. The car then improved and I was able to pass Stephane quite easily. In the drizzle I just focused on not endangering my result. Emmanuel put me under incredible pressure during the final laps which forced me to drive over the slippery kerbs. Third was the best I could manage under the circumstances."

Alessandro Zampedri (eighth): "Like on the Nurburgring I experienced severe oversteering whenever I tried to drive fast. In the first two laps I tried to see if I could really attack, but when I saw it wasn't possible I decided to at least bring some points home from England."

Darren Manning (ninth): "A fantastic race, especially during the final laps. I had a great duel with Damien. I drove much quicker in the race than during qualifying. It's a shame that the weekend is over."

Damien Faulkner (eleventh): "The duel with Darren was full on. I bet he left a bit of paint on my car. It was great fun even though I'm still not used to the braking and the cornering techniques in the Porsche. As I expected my racing laps were the fastest of the weekend. I'd like to thank Porsche for the invitation - I'd gladly come back."
