Rickard Rydell announces his comeback and signs contract with Chevrolet to drive in the STCC

Today Chevrolet announced that it has signed the legendary Swedish race driver Rickard Rydell to drive in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship in 2011. At the same time Chevrolet will also become STCC's official car.

After a long international career Rickard Rydell chooses Chevrolet and the STCC championship for the next chapter of his successful racing career. Next year STCC will be a Scandinavian Touring Car Championship with races in Sweden as well as in Denmark.

The first and only time Rydell has driven a Chevrolet in racing was at the WTCC 2007 in Anderstorp which he won.

From 2011 Chevrolet will also be the Official Car of the STCC. A selected number of Chevrolet models will be used for various functions during the competitions.

QUOTES

Rickard Rydell: "I tested the Cruze earlier this year, and felt immediately that it was a winner. The urge to compete on the race track again, and to work with Chevrolet, made it easy to accept the offer to run in the STCC".
