April 21 - Ayrton Senna wins his first Grand Prix at Estoril, Portugal (1985).
- Zora Arkus-Duntov, father of the Corvette, dies (1996).
April 22 - CART driver Greg Moore born (1975).
- F1 and sportcar racer Ronnie Bucknum dies of diabetes (1992).
April 23 - CART driver P.J. Jones born (1969).
- Gordon Johncock wins the USAC Trenton 200 in a Wildcat-DGS. Final USAC Championship victory for an Offenhauser based engine (1978).
- F1 racer Mike Hailwood dies in a road accident (1981).
April 24 - Reihold Joest born (1937).
- Rolf Stommelen dies in IMSA race at Riverside, California (1983).
