October 13 - Craig Breedlove drives the Spirit of America to a new Land Speed Record at Bonneville of 468.72 mph/749.95 kph. This beat Art Arfon's record set 8 days earlier (1964).
October 14 - Bernd Rosemeyer is born at Lingen an der Ems, Germany (1909).
October 15 - Craig Breedlove breaks his two day old Land Speed Record by driving the Spirit of America, at Bonneville, at a speed 526.28 mph/842.04 kph (1964).
October 16 - Phil Hill wins the Laguna Seca Can-Am driving a Chaparral 2E. This is Chaparral's only Can-Am win (1966).
October 17 - Tommy Kendall born (1966).
October 19 - Moss wins the Moroccan Grand Prix, at Casablanca. Final GP victory for Vanwall. Last Moroccan GP. Mike Hawthorn cliches Grand Prix driving title.
