September 29 - Ayrton Senna captures his 50th F1 pole (in 108 starts) at the Spanish Grand Prix (1990).
October 2 - Tom Green drives Walt Arfons' Wingfoot Express to a new Land Speed Record of 413.20 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats (1964).
October 3 - Richie Ginther wins the Mexican GP. Ginther's first and only GP win. First for Honda. First for a transverse engined car. First for Goodyear. Last race of 1.5-liter formula. Last race for Coventry-Climax engine. Also Bod Bondurant's first Grand Prix drive. (1965)
October 4 - Jochen Rindt wins his Grand Prix World Title posthumously. Emerson Fittipaldi wins his first F1 race, the US GP at Watkins Glen (1970).
- Richard Noble drives the Thrust 2 to a new Land Speed Record of 633.47 mph at Black Rock Desert, Nevada (1983).
October 5 - Tom Green's record (see October 2), only 3 days old, is broken by Art Arfons in the Green Monster. Art's new Land Speed Record of 434.02 mph is set on the Bonneville Salt flats (1964).

- Mario Andretti, in his first F1 race, qualifies his Lotus 49B on pole for the US GP at Watkins Glen (1968).
Correction: September 23, 1990, was not Nigel Mansell's first F1 victory in a Ferrari.
