(Montreal, July 25, 2000) - Three races - three wins. Gormley, Ontario's Jonathan Macri has had a perfect season so far in this 2000 edition of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship. Driving his Mopal Construction-sponsored Aero-2, Macri has scored three consecutive victories and does not intend to reduce the pressure on his opponents this weekend as the Canadian Formula Ford series present a double-header, featuring Rounds 4 and 5 of the season at the Grand Prix Player's of Trois-Rivieres. "Yes, it's a good score but I want to stay focused and I intend to drive as hard as I've been in the last races of the season," said the 18 year-old Macri. The young driver has already started thinking about next season. "My goal is to move up to the Formula Atlantic Series next year and that's why I want to race as hard as I can in Formula Ford. I want to clinch the title and score as many victories as I can."

Many drivers have other plans and want to beat Jonathan Macri on the twisty but selective street circuit of Trois-Rivieres this weekend... Jean-Sébastien Bédard, the driver of the Digidyne Vector scored his first points of the year in Toronto, finishing second to Jonathan Macri. In front of his home crowd, the 21-year old will want to score his maiden victory of the year. Francis Macri - Jonathan's older brother and teammate at AIM Autosport - will also want to beat Jonathan. Francis has qualified in front of the pack in the first three races but has been the victim of accidents in Rounds 1 and 3, forcing him into costly retirements. Reigning Series' champion Didier Schraenen had a tough race in Toronto but intends to do much better in Trois-Rivieres. The driver of the Radio Energie/UAP NAPA CMV has every intention of scoring his first win on a track he knows like the palm of his hand. Robert Boyer, Gerry Kavanaugh, Marc De Vellis, Marc Rossi, Brett Osler and Matt White - who captured pole position for the Toronto event - will be drivers to watch for.

With two races held in less than 24 hours, strategy will play a major role. Most drivers want to play it safe in the first race, to save their car and then let it all out in the second race. The first Formula Ford race will be held Saturday, July 29 at 3:05 p.m. Round 5 will be showcased Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. The Canadian Formula Ford Championship enjoy the support of Ford of Canada, Sunoco, Castrol, Hankook, Cardinal and Player's.
