USTCC: Sharp is first receipient of Stop Short Award

Sharp becomes the first recipient of the Speedtoys.com Stop Short Award

Patrick Sharp, driver of the Sharp Cellars Racing Honda Civic became the first driver of 2003 to win the new Speedtoys.com Stop Short Award at the US Touring Car Championship (USTCC) race in Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 23, 2003.

Sharp, a rookie in the series, made a fantastic move under braking that made the crowd gasp as no one thought he could slow down the car in time. But the Civics brakes were in good shape and the driver was in control as not only did he make the turn but he made the pass on fellow rookie Andrew Gillis.

Speedtoys.com will be awarding the "Speedtoys.com Stop Short Award" to one driver at each race selected. The award will go to the best braking move by a driver in the race and the recipient shall receive a set of brake pads of their choice.
