FORD drivers took two wins in the first apearance of the new V8 BRute Muster category today at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.
After drawing third starting place in a ballot yesterday, Falcon driver Damien 'Ice' White shot into second spot at the first corner in the first six-lap race of the RM Williams V8 BRute Muster and then passed leader Steve Robinson (Falcon) halfway through the first lap.
While White maintained a comfortable lead, Robinson and Ian 'Big Mac' McAlister (Falcon) came under pressure from Commodore driver Rod 'Redline' Wilson, who had started ninth.
The hard-driving Wilson took third spot on lap four, displacing McAlister. The other hard-charger was V8 Supercar regular Michael Donaher, who forced his Falcon through from 13th to seventh at the end.
With the grid reversed for race two, Gary MacDonald (Commodore) started from pole but surrendered to the fast-moving Donaher and James Brock (Commodore) at the end of the main straight on lap one.
Brock lost his spot just as quickly as his car slowed coming on to Conrod Straight, allowing MacDonald to hold second place behind Donaher until the finish.
Damien White made a spectacular charge from 13th on the grid and in just four laps was challenging Wilson for third spot.
He overtook on the next lap, leaving Wilson to defend his position from a tightly-packed bunch of Commodores and Falcons, led by Steve Robinson.
White set the fastest lap time in each race, claiming the inaugural V8 BRute Bathurst lap record of 2 minutes 43.41 on the final lap of race two.
