Verstappen wins third FIA Personality of the Year award
Red Bull Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen won the FIA Personality of the Year award for the third year in succession at the governing body's annual Prize Giving Gala in Versailles.
The Dutchman, who finished sixth in the championship with race victories in Malaysia and Mexico, has won the award every year since his F1 debut in 2015.
Newly-recruited Alfa Romeo Sauber driver Charles Leclerc claimed Rookie of the Year honours for clinching the Formula 2 title with three races to spare.
Toyota's Esapekka Lappi took home the Action of the Year award for his spectacular jump in Rally Portugal, while Billy Monger’s fighting spirit after his life-changing British F4 crash earned him the President’s Award.
The organisers of the Mexican Grand Prix won the Best Promoters trophy again after hosting another successful race in the Central American country.
FIA champions from across motorsport were also presented with their prizes.
Lewis Hamilton secured his fourth Formula 1 drivers' championship trophy, with Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas also picking up silverware for finishing second and third in the standings respectively.
Toto Wolff was present to claim Mercedes' award winning the constructors' championship for the fourth time in succession.
Sebastien Ogier collected his fifth straight WRC trophy - and his first as an M-Sport driver. The British outfit's boss Malcolm Wilson was on hand to collect the manufacturers' trophy.
Porsche was handed the WEC LMP1 manufacturers' trophy in its final season, while its #2 crew of Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber shared the drivers' award.
Lucas di Grassi was officially awarded for winning the 2016/17 Formula E title, but it was rival Sebastien Buemi’s Renault e.dams squad that took the teams' crown.
McLaren junior Lando Norris was also awarded for winning the European Formula 3 title in his debut season, while Red Bull protege Dan Ticktum also received an award for his Macau Grand Prix triumph.
