Willowbank Raceway officials are beaming in anticipation of blockbuster drag racing action over coming months, as Queensland's Top Doorslammer and Top Bike ANDRA Australian Championship leader Brett Stevens continues to rewrite World drag racing record books.

For the third time in history the Jack Daniels Team driver/rider claimed the group one double a fortnight ago in Perth and backed this up with a Top Doorslammer runner-up placing at the Western Sydney International Dragway last weekend to stretch his Doorslammer Championship lead to 135 points.

Ironically, it was fellow Queenslander and reigning Australian Top Alcohol Championship titleholder Gary Phillips who savoured his first-ever Doorslammer victory in the Lucas Oils Doorslammer.

" The crew have worked tirelessly in the past twelve months and having made five out of five finals in the Doorslammer and four out of four finals in Top Bike, things have been pretty hectic," said Stevens.

"Our ultimate achievement would be to win two out of two Championships.

"I don't think it's ever been done and it's definitely in our sights."

Stevens and Phillips will be joined by other home-state heavyweights, reigning ANDRA Australian Top Doorslammer titleholder Ben Bray and drag racing icon Victor Bray, during the Tin Top Titles featuring Top Doorslammer and Travelaire Tours Pro Stock on April 24/25.

As a dual bracket competitor, Stevens will endure an arduous interstate schedule in the lead up, but he isn't fazed by the travel as long as positive results are achieved out on the strip.

And there'll be no shortage of incentive to be firing on all cylinders on his return to Willowbank Raceway with victory almost assuring the Brisbane driver the 2003/04 Australian Championship title.

" With the weather starting to cool down we should see a few good times on the track at the Tin Tops, added Stevens.

"It'll be good to race on home soil in front our home crowd after being away for so long!"

Queensland drag racing fans couldn't ask for a better line-up during the Tin Top Titles as Pro Stock leader Tony Wedlock continued his dominance of the bracket securing victory over Peter Ridgeway.

The Toowoomba based campaigner now boasts a 60-point lead over Ridgeway in the championship and is intent on strengthening that position during the Tin Top Titles.
