Daytona Test Days Cut Short

Luyendyk Jr. completed a test with Doran Racing this week in their Doran/Ford Daytona Prototype for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The test was very short lived as Arie completed six laps in the car on the first day of testing and no laps at all after electrical problems sidelined Arie on Thursday, the second test day.

"I would like to thank Kevin Doran and his team for the opportunity to test their car. The test was short but any experience is good and I took the time to talk with many of the teams about possible rides for the 24 Hours of Daytona or a full time ride in the Rolex Series. The original plan was to run a few sessions on both test days but an electrical problem on the second day limited track time for the Doran Team."

Luyendyk competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2004 with SpeedSource's Daytona Prototype but did not finish due to electrical problems. Luyendyk enjoyed the experience and is searching for opportunities in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Unfortunately the Doran Racing team had already signed its drivers for the 2008 season and Luyendyk will drive during test days with different teams to secure a ride for 2008.

"Doran Racing is a top notch team and it's unfortunate I can't make a home there next year. I would love to run in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series next year and hopefully I can find the right opportunity, at this point my number one goal is to get a ride for the 24 Hours of Daytona."
