TRG Heads to Barber Hanging onto Lead in Three Championships

Petaluma, Ca. (July 27, 2006) - Last week the TRG trailer pulled into its home facility in Northern California and out rolled the twin Pontiac GTO.R's. They were worn, filthy and looking tired after 8 long weeks on the road. The same could be said for the crew, so a week at home and use of the TRG facilities was welcomed by all. Less than a week later the vehicles had been torn apart, completely rebuilt, and shaken down, and off they went in the trailer to Birmingham, Alabama, the site of the next Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series event.

Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama is a premier road course and will provide high-octane racing excitement as the GT cars roar past in the Porsche 250 by Bradley Arant this weekend. TRG Owner Kevin Buckler is back at Barber with one purpose in mind. "We came here to win- thats it, plain and simple. We want to leave here with a victory and extend our points lead. The facility here is fantastic, as is the circuit, but it is small and tight and I predict carnage. This race is going to be ugly and we need to stay out of trouble. I want to deliver for our friends at iRise and head to Infineon Raceway next month with a solid points lead."

TRG enters the weekend with a slim 8 point lead in the drivers and team championships. Pontiac holds a 21 point lead in the manufacturer battle, thanks to TRG's 19 podiums this season. Andy Lally and Marc Bunting in the #65 TRG/F1 Air GTO.R lead the GT series, but with three races to go, are in an unfamiliar position. Last year at this point in the season, they resided in fourth place. A strong finish rocketed them to the team championship, and they came up just one point short of the winner of the drivers championship. This year, Lally and Bunting are looking down at hard charging competition as they try to retain their lead through the remaining races.

"I'm looking forward to Barber," said Lally. "The pressure is on us right now to perform, and with such a slim lead in the points we have to not only be fast, but make no mistakes. Everything that we do this week will be important to the outcome of our race. I like the track. Marc and I won here in 2004 and will try and do the same here this year."

In the last competition at Daytona, mechanical issue held back the #64 TRG/iRise GTO.R, driven by Kelly Collins and Paul Edwards. It opened the points gap between them and their TRG teammates in first, but they still hold a 73 point lead over the next closest competitor for third place. Their goal is to race hard and shrink that gap, giving them a shot at a higher podium position at season's end and help bring a manufacturers championship to Pontiac.
