IROC ROUND 2 UNKIND AS PRUETT GETS EARLY EXIT FROM TEXAS

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 15, 2005) -- Scott Pruett of CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates took the green flag, moved up a spot from his third place qualifying position and was challenging for the lead when he received a tap from behind on only Lap 7 of 67 to end his drive in Round 2 of the Crown Royal IROC Series today at Texas Motor Speedway.

After the initial start of the race was waived off due to improper alignment at the stripe, Pruett cannoned his way to second place behind Steve Kinser on the restart and the two opened up a five car-length lead on the 12-car pack of equally prepared IROC machines. Pruett had the front-running Kinser in his sights before contact from behind spun the five-time Rolex Sports Car Series racewinner around and into the wall resulting in heavy left front damage.

The defending Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype Champion came to "The Great American Speedway" after an accident relegated him to a 10th place result in Round 1 at Daytona, but again the racing gods did not see checkered flags in the Californian's future as he was unceremoniously exited for the second time in as many IROC starts this season.

"I just flat out got run into from behind coming out of turn four," said Pruett. "It's discouraging. We all came out here to have a little fun. That's really all I can say. The race was getting started and I was only beginning to settle in. I just hate it. In my book that's just unprofessional."

The Crown Royal International Race of Champions will resume, September 8th at Richmond International Raceway with Round 3 of 4 in the fight for the $1,000,000 (US) purse. In the meantime, catch Pruett and teammate Luis Diaz in their CGR Daytona Prototype in Round 4 of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, the U.S. Sports Car Invitational, May 1st at 3:00pm ET (LIVE, SPEED Channel) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
