Peter Baron started the race; Leo Hindery took over and during his stint took the car off the track because of a problem with the battery ground cable coming off. During Marc Lieb's double stint, the right rear tire went flat. Fortunately, no spin ensued on the slick track. Hoping to minimize fuel stops, the team was forced to do a pit stop 10 minutes before the optimum time.

The team's tire technician checked the tire remains, then consulted Dunlop Tire representatives. "According to Dunlop, the drivers are just running the cars too hard. The combination of the temperature and the greasiness of the track and the drivers pushing too hard this early in the day is causing the tires to wear."

When asked if they would be able to adjust by tire pressure changes, having the drivers cool it or having more tire stops the team's tire technician responded, "We will continually have to adjust the tire pressures as the day goes on. The main thing is the drivers are going to have to pace themselves to make sure they make the fuel stint on those tires."

Running 20th overall, 10th in class

Four hours, 15 minutes into the race, with Jay Policasto behind the wheel a fan belt tension pulley broke. As a result, the car lost five laps. Policastro stayed in the car.
