BRUMOS, ALEX JOB, TRG KEEP PORSCHE IN CONTENTION AT DAYTONA 12-HOUR MARK
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- January 27, 2008 -- The storied Brumos Racing Porsche Riley team, based in nearby Jacksonville, Florida, continues to frequent the top positions both overall and in the GT class as the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona reaches its halfway mark.
The Ruby Tuesday Porsche-powered Crawford of Alex Job Racing held a lead at the six-hour mark, but the car, driven by the team of Patrick Long, Joey Hand, Andy Wallace and Bill Auberlin, has fallen two laps back to sixth place due to unlucky pit stop timing. Also, with 12 hours gone and 12 hours to go, the #59 Brumos entry, with Hurley Haywood, J.C. France, Terry Borcheller and Joao Barbosa is in seventh place, falling from the 11th hour lead with tire problems after a routine pit stop. The team #58 Brumos Porsche -- Darren Law, David Donohue, and Buddy Rice, had lead the race at the eight-hour point, but fuel feed problems set the team back to 27th place.
In the GT class, the #67 TRG Porsche of Romain Dumas, Emmanuel Collard, Bryan Sellers, Tim George, Jr., and Spencer Pumpelly is running second to the leading #07 Pontiac, losing its 11th hour lead in a battle of pit stops. The #70 Mazda is third, and the #66 TRG Porsche of Bryce Miller, Richard Westbrook, Ted Ballou, and Andy Lalley, who also have lead the class, dropped to fourth.
The #86 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Farnbacher Loles Motorsports, driven by the team of Wolf Henzler, Eric Lux, Leh Keen, Saacha Maassen and Joerg Bergmeister led the GT field at the six-hour mark, but control arm and brake issues, plus a penalty for a run-away tire during a pit stop, pushed them back to eighth in class at 12 hours. The top four GT cars are within one lap of each other.
