Racers Edge Daytona Preview

The Racers Edge team heads into the 2008 Rolex Grand American GT season with a renewed energy following an up and down 2007. New to the series and with a new brand behind them, the team showed glimpses of what could be for the future of this very well prepared team. For 2008 Team Owner Jon Mirachi new his Racers Edge contingent could bring the fight to the top of the order in the GT class, but something was missing. Mirachi's team has won championships at every level in which they competed, and in looking back at the winning formula, that now missing ingredient was the Mazda brand that he spent years developing a strong bond with.

The Racers Edge team rectified that situation with the acquisition of a brand new Mazda RX-8 that the team debuted at the official Daytona Test Days earlier this month. Between an experienced Championship winning team, the familiar Mazda power and an impressive driving lineup, the results were immediately showing at the test. The Racers Edge Mazda was by far the fastest overall GT entry in the field of more than 40 cars, and this has Team Owner Jon Mirachi with one goal going into next weeks 24 hour race..walk away with a new Rolex watch and an early lead in the 2008 Championship!

This effort will be benefited by the driving talents of sportscar veterans Ken Dobson, Craig Stone, Drew Staveley, and open wheel ace Robert Thorne who was behind the wheel for the pace setting time at the test. A driving lineup like this, and the familiarity of the Mazda family of cars has the team pumped as they move forward.
