Porsche Teams Make Transition To New Rolex GT Rules With Relative Ease; Brumos Fabcar Porsche "Still Evolving" in DP

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - January 8 - As the air temperature reached 80 degrees F for the second straight day, Porsche competitors in the Rolex Sports Car Series' Daytona Prototype and GT classes as well as the Grand-Am Cup got down to business in the second of three practice days for the 2005 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona International Speedway.

For the fifth time in six sessions, the #75 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Johannes van Overbeek/Jon Forgarty/Lonnie Pechnik/Seth Neiman/Patrick Long lead the GT field by more than a second over the Farnbacher Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer of reigning Porsche Supercup champion Wolf Henzler, Dominic Farnbacher, Shawn Price and Pierre Ehret. Also running near the front of the class is the #65 The Racer's Group Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of Kevin Buckler/Andy Lally/Marc Bunting/Carlos de Quesada/Hugh Plumb, and the other Farnbacher Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car (#78) of Bruce Phillips, Paul Bonham, Ray Williams and Paul Orwicz,

In the Daytona Prototype class, the #58 Red Bull Brumos Fabcar Porsche is two seconds off the pace of the leaders as the team continues to adjust the chassis and engine after its over-the-winter changes. The team car #59, plagued with handling problems yesterday, caught up to the #58 car by the end of the day, with both cars hovering near the top ten.

In the Grand-Am Cup practice sessions, the Porsche 911s have been running very strong, with the #69 Krohn Racing/The Racer's Group Porsche 911 running out from with Tracy Krohn/Nic Jonsson along with the #41 Team Sahlen Porsche 911 of Joe/Wayne/Will Nonnamaker and the #6 Zoom Motorsports Porsche 911 of Mike McCalmont and Darren Law.

Full results for all cars for all sessions are available on www.grand-am.com.

Between the Rolex 24 and the Grand-Am Cup race, there are 36 Porsches racing, and more than 130 drivers entered for those cars.

Practice sessions wrap up tomorrow (Sunday), with the Rolex 24 at Daytona scheduled for February 5 - 6, 2005.
