Daytona24: Ross Kaiser qualifying report

It's all the sevens for team Doran Racing and their #77 Daytona Prototype!

Team Doran Racing have had good first practice sessions and qualify 7th for the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday the 29th January 2011.

Yesterday saw the first Rolex 24 At Daytona practice session. The Doran Racing team: Ross Kaiser, Matt Bell, Brian Frisselle and Henri Richard, drove around the Daytona track in the new look #77 Ford Dallara.

Doran Racing has new colours for their Daytona Prototype with Office Depot sponsoring the #77 Ford Dallara. Associate sponsorship has been provided by Avnet, an electronics distribution company, and Intersil, a design and manufacturer for the semiconductor industry.

The first practice sessions of the Rolex 24 saw the team finish 12th in the morning and 14th in the afternoon. Kaiser, winner of the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge, was very pleased with the practice session despite being on old tyres before the start of qualifying and is now feeling extra confident having spent more time in the car.

'Practice gave me more time in the car and to experience the Daytona racing conditions which I'm now a lot more familiar with. I'm looking forward to some night running tonight, especially as there is a chance my first race stint may run into the darkness.'

Qualifying saw Brian Frisselle take the Daytona Prototype out on the track and he picked up speed quickly qualifying seventh. Doran Racing were extremely pleased with the results despite being hindered by another car during their fastest lap. The car has a very good race pace and Doran Racing is confident that they will be a team to look out for. Final practicing is today (Friday) which will give Ross and the rest of the team some last minute time in the car before the start of the race on Saturday.
