SunTrust Racing Heads to Grand American Finale Seeking to Capture Daytona Prototype Points Championship

Fontana, California (October 27, 2004) - The race to the finale has finally arrived this week, as the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series' teams head to Fontana, California for the final race of the 2004 season, the Lexus Grand American Champions Weekend. Three teams are in the championship hunt, including the No. 10 SunTrust Racing team of Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli. Not only is the team up for the number one spot in the Daytona Prototype team championship points race, but Taylor is a contender for the driver's championship also.

"We are very excited and pleased to have our SunTrust Racing team vying for two championships in our first year of competition," said John Mauney, SunTrust Bank's Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing Services.

The No. 10 SunTrust Racing Pontiac Riley Mk.11 team of Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli has achieved success so far this season that includes three victories, three second place finishes and two additional top-five finishes. They trail the points-leading No. 01 CompUSA-Ganassi team of Scott Pruett and Max Papis by only three points, at 324 points, after narrowing the gap from 19 points just four races ago. Andy Wallace trails in third at 309 points, down 18 points from the leaders, in the No. 2 CITGO-Howard-Boss Pontiac Crawford.

"Fontana will be a tough challenge," said Italian driver Max Angelelli. "Scott Dixon and Darren Manning will join the race with the CompUSA team. They are very good drivers and this will add an extra challenge. We already know we must look out for Scott Pruett and Max Papis. We hope to have a 'normal' weekend. We will be pleased if we have a standard, normal driving weekend. For sure, we will not worry about the race track. I will drive my usual way -- which is not to rest until I'm leading the field. It is up to Wayne to give me the car. He has to deliver it to me and I expect him to deliver the car to me leading the race, so I am not nervous."

"Fontana will be like every other race where we go out and try to win," added car owner/driver Wayne Taylor confidently.

The SunTrust Racing Pontiac Riley Mk.11 will continue their quest for the championship as they seek the valuable points at the finale that will put them in the history books for the incredibly exciting and closely competitive 2004 Grand American Rolex season.
