Frisselles test well with SunTrust

(Indianapolis, IN)--20 July 2006-On July 16th and 17th, Brian Frisselle was invited to test the SunTrust Riley-Pontiac at Miller Motorsports Park. The opportunity to test with the SunTrust team was something that his brother Burt Frisselle had done previously at Daytona International Speedway.

Despite never having driven a Riley or a Pontiac and never having seen the impressive 4.5-mile Miller Motorsports Park track, Brian was up to speed quickly, keeping pace with the progress made by team driver and Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Max Angelelli as the team tested in preparation for the season-ending Discount Tire Sunchaser nine-hour event on Labor Day weekend.

"I am grateful that Wayne and Max gave me a chance to test with them, and am really excited about how well things went," said Brian. "There is a lot to learn at this track, and this is a new car and engine combination for me, but I was able to get close to Max's times pretty quickly, so it was really encouraging."

It wasn't just a new car, track, and motor that Brian was experiencing, either, as it was also his first exposure to working with the SunTrust Racing team, which scored the overall victory in the 2005 Rolex 24 At Daytona as well as the 2005 Driver and Team season championships.

"I was really impressed with the team," said Brian. "The car was really quick, and after having raced against these Riley's, it was great to get a chance to actually drive one!"

Burt, who had previously tested the SunTrust machine, was also enthused about the performance the Riley-Pontiac had to offer.

"I felt really comfortable with the car right away, and it is such a great opportunity to test with what is arguably the most successful team in the in Grand Am paddock," said Burt.

The Frisselles were not the only ones who were impressed with the test, as the team took notice of the abilities shown by the young brother combination.

"I have always been impressed with Brian and Burt," said SunTrust Racing owner/driver Wayne Taylor. "Unfortunately, they have not been in a car that has given them the chance to show their true speed and professionalism. Given the right team and environment, these guys are future winners."

With a positive test under their belts, the two are looking forward to rejoining the Rolex paddock soon.
