HOMESTEAD, Fla. - (March 3, 2001). It was the best performance ever for the InterSport Racing team. The No. 37 Judd-powered Lola B2K/10, driven by Jon Field (Dublin, Ohio) and Oliver Gavin (Northampton, England), took second place in the Nextel 250 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The team's second car, the No. 28 Ford Riley & Scott, driven by Joel Field (Jon's twin brother) and Clint Field (Jon's 17-year old son) came in fifth.

"It wasn't first, but we'll get there," said Jon Field. "I'm especially happy for the team. They worked really hard this weekend and their efforts were rewarded with two cars in the top five. It's our best team effort to date. We're on a roll - fourth at the Rolex 24 and second here."

When asked about son Clint's drive, Field said, "I'm so proud of him. It was his first time on this track and he ran consistent lap times and never put a wheel wrong." Clint said, "We ran as high as fourth, but realistically knew we couldn't do much better than fifth or sixth in the Riley & Scott. Dad's Lola couldn't quite catch the first place car, but we'll take second and fifth any day." Jon Field and Gavin finished just 5.877 seconds behind the winning Dyson Racing Team car driven by James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger.

The No. 37 Banana Joe's Island Party-sponsored Lola had a lot of problems throughout the weekend. There were huge oscillations in the car that caused major handling difficulties and a broken shock absorber during the qualifying session. "The Lola was a bit tricky to drive with lots of understeer until late in the race when the wind died down and then it was okay," noted Gavin. "But we just couldn't get past the first place car. We got a good second place and we're right where we need to be to make a run for the championship."

The next race in the Grand-Am series will be the Sun Automotive 200 at the Phoenix International Raceway, Phoenix, Ariz., on April 21.
