Al Carter and Hugh Plumb came to the second to the last race of the 2013 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with the ambition to score their second podium finish of the season. This year the two B+ Racing drivers and their Fall-Line Motorsports No. 45 Eagle B+ Racing team have not been really lucky.

The car and drivers showed real speed but the lack of racing luck prevented the two CTSCC drivers to achieve a good ranking in the 2013 championship.

On Friday, Al and Hugh had two good practice sessions at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Hugh Plumb scored the 2nd fastest time of the session right before qualifying.

In qualifying Hugh had a good feeling but the track conditions did not help him and he had to settle with the 7th fastest time.

In the race Hugh took a great start and was quickly running in the top five. Everything started to look like he and Al could end on a podium finish.

Al Carter took the wheel after thirty minutes in the race during the first pit stop for fuel and tires. Early in his stint, Al was right in a battle when he was forced off the track by another car that damaged the No. 45 Eagle Tech / B+ Foundation / Jetset Magazine BMW and broke the right front shock, which had to be repaired in pit lane. The crew did an excellent job and Al lost only six laps. Carter was able to get back in the race to maximize points but could not place better than 14th.

Al Carter was also entered in the Laguna Seca round of the 2013 Rolex Sports Car Series where he co-drove the Audi R8 GRAND-AM with Bryan Sellers. Carter did a great job in qualifying scoring the 6th fastest GT class time proving the progress made by him and his team with the new Fall-Line Motorsports R8.

Carter and Sellers drove together for the first time and this driver combination had all the makings for a successful race. However, it was not in the cards and though the drivers drove a good race, the day did not turn out quite as planned.

Carter drove a solid first stint and pitted under yellow at the 30 minute mark but a problem in the pits as they switched drivers prevented the crew from changing tires. Then, to add to the misfortune, they received a penalty for speeding in the pits. On the 2nd stop they received another penalty for making contact with a tire upon exiting the pits.

Over the past two months Fall-Line Motorsports and Audi Sport customer racing have worked in unison to develop the car and it showed at Laguna Seca. Sellers scored the 3rd fastest time in the race. Sellers and Carter had a tough race but were able to cross the finish line in 9th place adding another top ten to Fall-Line's list of Rolex Series accomplishments.

The final race of the 2013 CTSCC series will be raced at Lime Rock Park, Connecticut on Saturday morning, September 28.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Festival will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 (formerly Speed) on Sunday, September 15 at 4:00 PM ET.
