Marsal carries positive momentum to Kansas

Kansas City, Kan. (14 August 2013) – It’s been just days since the previous round of GRAND-AM competition at Road America and Michael Marsal is still carrying the high of his first Rolex Series podium into this weekend’s GRAND-AM race debut at Kansas Speedway.

Marsal and co-driver Maxime Martin finished third in the No. 93 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 at Road America in what was a big weekend for Turner Motorsport as the team celebrated a double podium with the sister Turner BMW taking victory at the historic Wisconsin circuit.

The Kansas Speedway event will mark another new challenging track for Marsal as the young racer adds yet another venue to his growing race resume. He will once again serve double duty on the weekend as he competes in both the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) and Rolex Series events. Marsal will team with co-driver Tonis Kasemets in the No. 71 Multimatic Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage in CTSCC action and will also return to the seat of the No. 93 Turner Motorsport BMW in the Rolex Series.

“It was truly special to podium at Road America and I’m still riding that high,” said Marsal. “And to have a double podium for Turner was just incredible. It was a great day. It was amazing to do that on such a special weekend when GRAND-AM and ALMS were competing on the same weekend. Hopefully we’ll carry that momentum into Kansas this weekend and bring home another couple good results.”

Though the final race results may not fully reflect the true strength of Marsal’s CTSCC outings this year, he has delivered several strong performances in the Aston Martin including his most recent run at Road America in which he remained among the top-five throughout his entire stint. The Multimatic Motorsports group hopes to turn its luck around on Saturday as the playing field is leveled with most CTSCC racers taking their first laps around the Kansas “roval” course.

“We’re going to have a lot of cars heading into Turn 1 off of the high speed oval, so the goal will be to just try to keep the car clean and out of trouble,” said Marsal. “I think our cars will be good there, we just to avoid any attrition and keep the car toward the front. It was great to get my first Rolex Series podium last weekend but it would be even better to follow that up with a podium for Multimatic so hopefully we can do that on Saturday.”
