Terry Borcheller continues his fast-paced summer with two races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this week. After a quick stop at home in Phoenix, he'll travel to Lexington, Ohio for a Rolex Sports Car Series race on Saturday evening, followed by a Grand-Am Cup GS race on Sunday afternoon.
Borcheller and Forest Barber of Fort Worth, Tex., will again team in the No. 54 Bell Motorsports Doran JE4, chasing victory in the Rolex Series. They'll also share driving duty in the No. 54 Bell Motorsports BMW M3 in the Grand-Am Cup race. Borcheller is looking forward to racing on the 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio course, which is known as a "technical" track that rewards a precise driving style.
"I like Mid-Ohio," Borcheller said. "I have many fond memories of the track. I had one of my best karting races there - I started 69th and won on the last lap!
"You can really get into a good rhythm on the track. It's very technical and it's busy, so you don't have much time to rest. Forest and I finished second at Mid-Ohio in the [Grand-Am] Cup car last year, right behind the leader, so we're looking to have a really good race."
championship chase
Borcheller's second-place finish at Watkins Glen moved him up to fifth place in Rolex Series driver standings, behind Brumos Racing drivers JC France and Hurley Haywood, tied for first, and Mike Borkowski and David Donohue, tied for third. Bell Motorsports is now third in Rolex Series team-owner standings, behind the two Brumos cars.
