Last Major Event of 2010 Gets Underway in Style

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (September 8, 2010) -- A parade of million-dollar race car transporters will take to the streets of downtown Salt Lake City tomorrow to kick off the last major event of the 2010 season for Miller Motorsports Park.

The event, which will take place this weekend, September 10-12, is known as "The Showdown in the Desert" and will feature the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, the Grand-Am Continental Sports Car Series, the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge and the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup.

Race transporters will stage at EnergySolutions Arena at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 9, and the public will be able to view race cars from the various series, talk to racing drivers and participate in pit stop challenges until the parade begins at 8:30 a.m. The Utah Highway Patrol will escort the parade of colorful haulers through the streets of the city as they make their way to Miller Motorsports Park.

The weekend at the racetrack will include practice and qualifying on Friday, with racing on both Saturday and Sunday.

"This is our last major event of the 2010 season," said Miller Motorsports Park General Manager John Larson, "and we're going out in style. We'll have five professional racing series, with seven individual races, over the course of the weekend. To make things more exciting, these events will be championship-deciding season finales for all but one of the race series so the adrenaline will be dialed up to 11 for all the teams and drivers."

There will be a variety of off-track entertainment and experiences for fans to enjoy throughout the weekend in addition to the on-track action, plus driver autograph sessions, skid car rides, stunt bike demonstrations and $10 Jeep rides on MMP's rock-crawling course.

Tickets for this weekend's event are priced at $25 for Saturday and $20 for Sunday, with a weekend ticket available for $40. Kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge, and access to the facility on Friday is free for everyone.

For tickets or information regarding Miller Motorsports Park, call 435-277-RACE (7223) or visit the track's website at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com. Tickets are also available at www.SmithTix.com.
