Own A Sports Car? Come Out To A Car Corral

Car corrals are great way to make new friends, share your passion and enhance your GRAND-AM experience.

Attending a GRAND-AM Road Racing event in person makes for an exciting weekend.

Spending the day – or days – with like-minded enthusiasts certainly ups the enjoyment.

That's why marque corrals, where owners of similar automobiles can gather, have become a popular part of Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge events. Fans don't need to belong to a specific club; all they need to park in the designated areas is to drive the appropriate vehicle.

This weekend's Continental Tire Festival of Speed powered by Mazda at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will have a corral for just about every enthusiast. Aston Martin, set to debut its Vantage GT4 in the Rolex Series GT class; Porsche, Audi, Corvette, and Mazda will host special areas located adjacent to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca's Turn 5.

Many of the groups work with GRAND-AM to set up private garage tours where team officials give members an up-close look at their car and race transporter and host question and answer sessions.

Some marquees also arrange private driver meet and greets ques.

New this weekend, AVIS will sponsor a hospitality tent in which a number of drivers will mingle with fans and answer their questions on Saturday. Additionally a live TV feed of the race will be available as well as a series of raffle's.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge session will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and feature drivers Bill Auberlen, Seth Thomas, Matt Plumb, Nick Longhi, and Tom Long. FOX Sports 1's Bob Varsha will moderate the Q&A.

Rolex Sports Car Series competitors will visit from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. Christian Fittipaldi, Ryan Dalziel, Bryan Sellers, and Andy Lally will answer questions with the panel moderated by FOX Sports 1's Brian Till.

Similar corrals and activities will be held during the Sept. 27-28 season finale at Lime Rock Park. For more information, CLICK HERE.
