BOSS Snowplow Team Carries Momentum into Phoenix 250

EFR, Leitzinger looking for consecutive Rolex Series wins

Denver, NC (September 6, 2005) ... There are moments in sports that have tremendous "carry-over effect". Making a birdie on the 18th hole to win a golf tournament, hitting a game-winning home run in the bottom of the 9th inning, sinking the winning free throw in basketball, kicking the winning field goal as time expires in football - all are winning moments that exhibit high emotion and create momentum.

When Butch Leitzinger made the pass of the #01 Comp USA Ganassi car with eight laps remaining in the EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Road Racing Course on August 27th, such was the feeling for the #4 BOSS Snowplow Team. That "race winning" pass gave the second-year BOSS Snowplow Team their second win of the 2005 Rolex Series season and kept their hopes alive for the coveted Series title.

Leitzinger, co-driver Elliott Forbes-Robinson (EFR), and the BOSS Snowplow Team carry the momentum from their dramatic victory at Mid-Ohio to the Phoenix International Raceway this weekend for the running of the Phoenix 250. The Phoenix 250 is the 11th of fourteen races this season on the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series schedule.

Last year at Phoenix, the BOSS Snowplow Team was making only their second start in the Rolex Series. EFR qualified the #4 Pontiac Crawford in the sixth position, and, after several problems during the race handicapped their performance, Leitzinger brought the car home in fifth. This year, the prospects for a podium finish are stronger than ever.

"The Crawford has showed that it is well suited for the 'rovals' (combination road course and oval)", Leitzinger commented. "We have always done well in the high speed turns, as well as under braking, and I think that Phoenix is a circuit where we will be able to exploit these traits."

The Phoenix 250 will also have a new "twist" this season. For the first time, the 250-mile, 166-lap event will be among only the Daytona Prototype cars. The GT cars, who normally race with the DPs, will compete in a separate event on Friday evening September 9th.

"I'm really looking forward to Phoenix this week," a confident EFR stated. "Last year, we had some issues, but managed a top-five (finish). With all the work that's gone into our Pontiac Crawford since last year, we should be really good. I'm looking forward to the first race with only the Daytona Prototypes too. Sometimes, it's gets a little exciting running with the GT cars, so this will be fun I'm sure."

Speaking of the "rovals", the #4 BOSS Snowplow Team has enjoyed tremendous success this season on these challenging tracks. Their first win of the 2005 season came at Daytona in the June Brumos Porsche 250, and the BOSS Team finished second in both the Rolex 24 At Daytona (February, Daytona) and the Grand Prix of Miami (March, Homestead-Miami Speedway). With their "roval" record impressive, and coming off a dramatic win at Mid-Ohio in their last race, look for EFr and Butch Leitzinger to be at the "top of the game" at Phoenix.

The Phoenix 250 is set for a 7 PM ET start on Saturday, September 10th. Speed Channel will provide tape-delayed coverage of the event on Sunday, September 11 at 4 PM ET.
