The 2006 Picchio Grand-Am Program Ready for Daytona and Beyond

Picchio is working at high speed to come back to the Grand-Am series. The Ancarano factory completed in December a program of test sessions aimed to try out new settings and solutions of aerodynamics and engine parameters. Andrea Montermini's testing work was very fruitful, as was the work of some young and promising Italian drivers who measured their skills on the Daytona Prototype.

In order to restructure the race assistance network, Picchio is evaluating an agreement with ADi Motorsport from Virginia and will probably be managing spares and consultancy supply in North America. ADi Motorsport has bought two Daytona Prototypes from the now dissolved G&W team, and will be supported by Picchio factory. One of the DP prototypes, duly overhauled and properly updated, is now ready to take part in the upcoming 24 Hours of Daytona.

Picchio can choose a driver for the event and put him behind the wheel, and therefore the managers are currently performing "last minute" evaluations on the availability and merit of the Italian drivers who showed their interest in taking part in this important classic of early season.

In the next few months at Ancarano the program of constructing new Daytona Prototypes will go further, so that within the year Picchio will be able to have four cars on the track: the three factory-supported "semi-official" ADi Motorsport cars and one directly managed by the Picchio factory.
