Defending Rolex 24 At Daytona to Prepare for 2006 in Test Sessions at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 30, 2005) -- While 2005 Rolex 24 At Daytona overall winners Max Angelelli and Wayne Taylor look to wrap-up their first Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype championship in next weekend's VIR 400, the duo already has its eye on 2006.

Before heading to Virginia International Raceway next weekend, the No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac Riley co-drivers will put their machine through testing paces at Daytona International Speedway on Monday, October 3 and Tuesday, October 4. As defending champions of North America's most prestigious endurance race--which is also the continent's only 24-hour event--Angelelli and Taylor will be looking to become the first drivers to take back-to-back victories in the twice-around-the-clock classic since Al Holbert, Derek Bell and Al Unser Jr. claimed overall victories in 1986 and 1987. In addition to preparing for the 2006 season with the Monday testing, the SunTrust team will also use that opportunity for a photo shoot of the popular blue and orange sunburst-liveried car.

Taylor--who makes his home in nearby Altamonte Springs, Fla.--and Angelelli will be joined at the "World Center of Racing" on Tuesday by Rolex Series stalwarts CB Motorsports and Team Seattle/Synergy Racing. The CB Motorsports and Seattle/Synergy teams are expected to test on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 5, with other teams also slated to participate on Tuesday and Wednesday. While Monday will be a private test day for the SunTrust team, Tuesday and Wednesday's sessions are free and open to the public with access to the Oldfield Grandstand through the lobby of DAYTONA USA.

The 44th Rolex 24 At Daytona has been moved-up one week from its traditional early February date and will run on the weekend of January 26-29, 2006. Tickets for the 2006 Rolex 24 At Daytona are available now by visiting www.racetickets.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.

The entire Rolex Series, as well as the Grand-Am Cup Series, returns to action next weekend at Virginia International Raceway for 2005 Grand-Am Cup season finale on Saturday, October 8 and the penultimate round of the 2005 Rolex Series schedule on Sunday, October 9. SPEED Channel will provide live television coverage of the Rolex Series VIR 400 beginning at 1 p.m. ET on October 9, with tape-delayed coverage of the Grand-Am Cup Series VIR 20 slated for Sunday, November 13 at 3 p.m. ET.

Tickets for the VIR 400 are available by calling (434) 822-7700. More information is also available at the Virginia International Raceway web site, www.virclub.com.

The 14-race 2005 Rolex Series schedule and the 11-race Grand-Am Cup calendar deliver professional sports car racing to key markets throughout North America in addition to being televised in the United States and Canada on SPEED Channel and distributed globally through ESPN International. With title sponsorship support from Rolex Watch USA, the Rolex Sports Car Series showcases emerging and legendary drivers from around the globe and thoroughbred racing machines from the industry's leading constructors and the world's top automobile manufacturers.
