RSR Motorsports hope for a good CTSCC show at Trinkler's home track in Alabama

LEEDS, Ala.—Owen Trinkler hopes to parlay his home track advantage into a win when he returns to Barber Motorsports Park this week with RSR Motorsports, and he’ll have a lot of family and friends cheering him on the entire time.

Round three of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge gets underway on Saturday, April 6, and RSR Motorsports is optimistic about all three of their Honda Civic Si entries after success at Barber last season.

Trinkler spent 15 days at Barber last month. In addition to instructing at the track’s driving school, he was also there for a two-day test with RSR Motorsports.

“It was a good test, and we got a lot of good data,” says Trinkler. “We worked primarily with the new 2013 Honda since the team is taking it to Barber for the first time.”

At Barber, Trinkler adds, getting a top finish in the ST class is about a lot more than simply having a fast car. “It’s a team effort and every detail counts.

To be on the podium at Barber, everything has to be right. Drivers have to do well, the car has to be flawless, and pit stops have to be perfectly timed. We also need the right setup to keep the car competitive in the long run,” he says.

Fergus had some bad luck at Barber last year, but he is expecting very different results this weekend. “I think we have a car capable of getting on the podium,” says Fergus. “We had a great car in Austin.

The Honda Civic was very good there, but we also have a lot of competition this year. Owen has the home track advantage and finished third at Barber, so I’ve got a great co-driver that I can rely on who also knows the track really well.”

Sarah Cattaneo and Chris Puskar will co-drive the No. 198 RSR Motorsports Honda Civic Si, and Andrew Novich and Tom Dyer will be behind the wheel of the No. 196 U.S. LED/Thor Motor Coach Honda.
