Skip Barber Racing School Instructor Hugh Plumb, a multiple winner in the Speedvision World Challenge Touring Cars series, will test a Nissan-engined Lola B2K/40 in November. Plumb will drive the car, Archangel Motorsports' 2000 GrandAm SR II championship winner, at Carolina Motorsports Park near Kershaw, S.C.

Plumb had a highly successful 2000 season driving an Acura Integra R for Realtime Racing, scoring two wins, a second and a third in Touring Cars. Mechanical problems cost him the possibility of two other wins, but he still finished fourth in the competitive series, and the points he gained were crucial in helping Acura win the Manufacturer's Championship.

"I've really enjoyed my two seasons in Touring Car," said Plumb, "but it's time to move up. I'm looking at three different opportunities for the 2001 season; a Lola in GrandAm, a Porsche GT3R with one of the top teams in the ALMS, and a chance to move to Grand Touring in Speedvision World Challenge. If all three work out 2001 is going to be a very busy year for me."

Plumb’s competitiveness comes naturally. His mother is a successful equestrian in international competition, including the 1968 Olympics. His father is also a noted equestrian, and holds the distinction of having competed in more Olympics than any rider in history. His brother Matt recently completed his second year in the Barber Dodge Pro Series.
