Automatic Racing Announces Returning Drivers for 2006 Grand-Am Cup Season

ORLANDO, Fla. -- With eight seats to fill for the 2006 Grand-Am Cup season, Automatic Racing has announced that four of their drivers will be returning to the team. Jeff Segal, David Russell, Dave Riddle and Kris Wilson will once again be piloting Automatic Racing BMW M3s in the Grand Sport class.

Twenty-year-old Jeff Segal first drove with Automatic Racing at Mid-Ohio last year and he will be teaming up with David Russell, who has been with the team since its inception in 2002.

During the season finale at Virginia International Raceway, Segal qualified third in only his third career Grand-Am Cup event. He followed up the qualifying effort with a finish of seventh in the race.

Next season will be Segal's first full season in professional racing, and he is looking forward to co-driving with Russell for the first time. "Typically there are some challenges on finding what a co-driver looks for in a car and what their goals are for the season," says Segal. "But I've worked with David even though we haven't driven together, and I don't think it will be a challenge at all. Even though I'm going in essentially as a rookie, I think David and I have a shot of doing really well. I want to get on the podium regularly. The team has really come together, and I have high aspirations."

Russell has helped Automatic Racing earn a top-five championship finish twice in Grand-Am Cup competition. He feels that the full-time addition of Segal will keep Automatic Racing at the top of the point standings. "I'm really looking forward to driving with Jeff in '06. He has proven to the team he is exceptionally analytical and able to easily run on the pace," says Russell. "I think 2006 will be a break out year for Jeff and I."

Also returning to Automatic Racing are Dave Riddle and Kris Wilson. Riddle was a Grand-Am Cup rookie last season, and he is looking forward to teaming up with Wilson again.

"Now that I've gotten a year of professional racing under my belt and I've had a chance to get familiar with the tracks, that learning curve is gone," says Riddle. "My goal last year was to learn about the aspects of professional racing and to improve as a driver. I think I accomplished that, and now I can go for more top results."

"Dave and I work really well together," adds Wilson. "We've been co-drivers for a year and a half, and we communicate well with each other. We're looking forward to building on what we did last season."
