Birmingham, AL -- SpeedSource Race Engineering has found vast amounts of success in the Grand Sports I and Grand Sports II classes of the Grand Am Cup series but had yet to taste victory with their Porsche Boxster program in the Sports Touring I class. That all changed this past weekend when Scott Schlesinger and Sylvain Tremblay put in great drives to bring home the Sports Touring I win at Barber Motorsports Park.

>From a seventh place starting spot Scott Schlesinger took the lead early in the race with some heads up driving. When the opportunity presented itself under yellow flag conditions, Scott pitted to put Sylvain Tremblay in the #68 Giantbank.com / Onboard Media / Papa John's Pizza / Champion / Fikse / Speedsource Porsche Boxster to finish the rain soaked two and a half hour race.

Over the next hour of the race the lead moved back and forth between several different teams. The final caution period ended with just sixteen minutes remaining in the two and a half hour race. Sylvain Tremblay led the field to the green flag with Don Salama in the #12 TC Kline Racing BMW Z4 close on his tail. Salama hounded Tremblay for the final eight laps. Trying every passing move he knew, Salama couldn't pass Tremblay and ended up 1.413 seconds behind at the end.

"It's just neat that after three years to finally give this to Scott, who's been with the program since the beginning and has really worked hard. He's put his soul and a ton of money into this little Boxster. He loves it dearly. We are just glad that we are able to do this for him and the entire SpeedSource team," said Tremblay, who is also the SpeedSource team owner.

"Quality driver is what Don really was, as well as TC Kline and that whole program," commented Tremblay. "I raced him clean and gave him the room, knowing that the respect that I was giving was going to be returned. It was a lot of fun side-by-side every corner. We were both sliding, hoping not to touch each other. It was a riot, a lot of fun and a lot of pressure. I seem to do well under those circumstances. The more pressure, the better we perform."

"This car is an excellent little car," added Tremblay. "After three years of development this car is very competitive in the Sports Touring I class. We have a Boxster for sale and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get a lot of calls on that car after this race."

The next race for the Grand Am Cup will take place on June 8th at California Speedway. For the first time since Homestead the Grand Sports and Sports Touring classes will be combined for one race.

The races from Barber Motorsports Park will be televised on May 31st from 1-3 PM on Speed TV.
