TAFEL RACING COUNTS ON EXPERIENCE AT BARBER

CUMMING, Ga. - Experience could be the key in the Porsche 200 in round seven of the Grand-Am Cup Series at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. Tafel Racing's Andrew Davis and Eric Lux, both of whom have learned a great deal about this 2.3 mile, 16- turn track, will co- drive the 175 Rembrandt Charms Porsche 996 in the June 29 race.

Davis, of Bogart, Ga., has quite a history with Barber Motorsports Park. "I have been a lead instructor for the Porsche Driving Experience since the track opened in 2003. I probably have more laps around the track than just about anybody, so I feel right at home when we visit Barber. I have competed in each Grand-Am event held at the circuit for the last three years. In 2004, I surprised a lot of people with a 3rd place qualifying effort at my first race in a Daytona Prototype. Last year we were very quick and had a solid run with the Tafel Racing Porsche." Davis also competes with team owner Jim Tafel in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, where he has had four top-ten finishes and is currently in 6th position in driver's points.

At 18, Lux, of Buffalo, NY, is only in his second season of racing with Grand American, but is quickly gaining experience with his competition in both the Grand-Am Cup and the Rolex series. He participated with the team at two recent test days at Barber after having competed there in April of this year with HSR. "The test with the Cup car went very well. We have a new motor and transmission for this race and were very pleased with the times the car was able to turn." Lux won the season opener of the Grand-Am Cup Series at Daytona in the 44 Team Sahlen Rembrandt Charms/GOJO/Hawk Porsche 996. He has also had success in the Rolex Series with eight top-ten finishes including his first podium finish in the Brumos Porsche 250. Lux is currently 5th in Rolex Series driver's points. He and Davis hope to combine their success in the Rolex series to produce a podium finish in the Grand Am Cup 200.

The Grand-Am Cup 200 will be broadcast on August 5 at 1:00 ET on SPEED Channel. In addition to their Grand-Am Cup Series entry, Tafel Racing, based out of Cumming, Ga., will have three cars entered in the Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant, which will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel.
