TRG Returns to Barber Motorsports as Defending KONI Challenge Race Champions
TRG's first KONI Challenge Win

PETALUMA, Calif.- TRG returns to the site of its first Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series victory to date and will bring a two-car assault as the team attempts to defend its title in Saturday's Grand-Am KONI Challenge Grand Sport (GS) 250-mile race at Barber Motorsports Park.

Last year, current TRG Rolex Sports Car Series drivers Ted Ballou and Andy Lally claimed the KONI Challenge triumph in the No. 41 TRG Porsche 997. This year, Scott Schroeder and Peter Ludwig will look to repeat the feat in the No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche 997, while Spencer Pumpelly and Duncan Ende will be doing their best to drive the No. 39 Carlsen Porsche/The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee Porsche 997 to its maiden Victory Lane visit in Alabama.

"The drivers are ready to conquer Barber again" said TRG team manager Jason Myers. "Last year we had an incredibly well-deserved victory, and I foresee history repeating for 2008. Both of our cars have strong driver lineups, the best engineering support possible and, of course, the most thorough and meticulous mechanics. We are coming to Barber for one reason: to win."

Ende and Pumpelly head to Barber Motorsports Park riding a streak of three consecutive top-10 results and are currently tied for 10th in the KONI Challenge GS driver standings. The duo owns a best result of second at Lime Rock Park. Last time out at Watkins Glen International, Ende and Pumpelly overcame a crash that damaged their primary (No. 39) car in pre-race testing to come home seventh in TRG's No. 40 Porsche 997.

Schroeder and Ludwig, meanwhile, will be looking to rebound from the their first result outside the top 20 at Barber. The teammates finished 16th in their first race together at Lime Rock Park in May and came home 12th from Mosport last month before a 24th-place outing at Watkins Glen owing to a contact. Schroeder and Lally co-drove the No. 41 machine to its best result of the season to date with an eighth-place run in the season-opening Fresh From Florida 200 at Daytona in January.

"We had a tough run at Watkins Glen," Myers said. "The drivers adapted well to shifting to another chassis and the crew did a truly superhuman job getting it done. For Duncan and Spencer to bring home a seventh place finish in what was a skeleton of a car says a lot about their driving abilities and even more about the crew behind them. Scott and Peter would have had a much better finishing position had it not been for a certain car not handling itself properly in a tight situation. It was a totally avoidable accident that pushed more than just one car down the ladder a bit. I hope Barber is a cleaner race, for sure."
