C-MAX Racing Ends Rookie Season in KONI Challenge with 8 Top-Tens

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- C-MAX Racing wrapped up their first season in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series with an impressive eight top-ten finishes, including one overall win and two more podium finishes.

Dave Riddle and Kris Wilson are no strangers to KONI Challenge, but for 2007 they teamed up not only to co-drive, but to field their own team. C-MAX racing was born under the guidance of team owner Riddle, and Wilson added team manager to his list of responsibilities.

By the second race of the season, C-MAX Racing was already finishing in the top ten. A seventh overall in the Grand Sport-class No. 25 C-MAX Porsche 997 started a three-race streak of top-tens, including a third place at the historic Laguna Seca circuit. In only four races, the new team was already a podium finisher.

Another trio of top-tens began with round six at Mosport, but nowhere was it as meaningful as at Watkins Glen. In a stunning finish for a rookie team, C-MAX Racing took the overall race win.

Watkins Glen was the only round in which C-MAX Racing entered two Porsche 997s. Both cars had very different strategies, and the team took a gamble that one of those strategies would pay off. As it turned out, late-race cautions fell in favor of the No. 26 C-MAX Porsche shared by Riddle and Jean-Francois Dumoulin, resulting in the team's maiden victory.

The win at Watkins Glen was not the end of the excitement for C-MAX: Riddle and Wilson went on to earn yet another podium just two rounds later at Miller Motorsports Park. A third-place there brought the team's podium total to three for the season.

"It's been a phenomenally good year for our first season in KONI Challenge," said Riddle. "It was a good showing and we're working on our plans for next year so we can come back even stronger."

"We really had a successful first season, and we learned a lot that will give us more of an advantage heading into next year," commented Wilson. "The momentum we built up is going to carry into 2008, and we look forward to running for the championship."
