Mont-Tremblant, September 21, 2003 -- This morning at 11, the second edition of the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant enduro got underway. With clouds threatening rain but a dry track, fans could see the fabulous Daytona prototypes in action, the new premier class of the Rolex Sports Car Series that can reach speeds of 320 kph.

The Rolex Sports Car Series began its season in January 2003 with the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona in Florida and continued with races of between 2 to 6 hours. The 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant was the 10th of 12 trials. The season will wind up in Daytona on October 31, and November 1 and 2. The Rolex Sports Car Series is recognized by the Grand American Road Racing Association, the most important body overseeing motor racing in North America today.

In the Daytona prototypes class, the Brumos Racing No. 58 Porsche FABCAR Daytona Prototype team gave a great performance with its three drivers David Donohue, Mike Borkowski and Sascha Maassen managing to stay in first place from the 3rd hour of the trial. Bromos Racing also took second place with No. 59 driven by Max Papis, Hurley Haywood and JC France.

In the GTS class, the cup was handed back to the Heritage Motorsports Team (Dave Machavern, Tommy Riggins and Joao Barbosa). Machavern currently leads the Driver's Championship followed closely by his teammate Joao Barbosa.

In the GT class, the No 33 Ferrari 360 dominated the trial from the start, driven by two Californians: Cort Wagner of Los Angeles and Brent Martini of Laguna Beach, who is also leading the Driver's Championship.

Penalties assessed after yesterday's Grand-Am Cup

Jean-François Dumoulin and his teammate, Torontonian Robert Julien pulled off a first place finish at the tail end of the Saturday's three-hour race after a heated battle with the Powell Motorsport Team (Corvette Z06, No. 11). Grand American Road Racing Association officials assessed penalties on two cars after the mandatory technical inspections.

Acura No 44 was found with illegal parts, and Acura No 43 refused to undergo inspection after the discovery was made on No. 44. Another part was impounded from the No. 11 Corvette, the car that lead the Doncaster Racing Team (Dumoulin-Julien) for most of the race. The part will be measured and inspected again at the beginning of next week to determine if it complies with series regulations.

Grand American Road Racing officials said that the results of Saturday's race will not be affected by these discoveries, but fines and penalties will be imposed. Some teams will certainly lose points.
