MARK AND MATHEW POMBO SIGN WITH i-MOTO MAZDASPEED 3 TEAM TO CHALLENGE FOR THE ST CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2011
Dec 27, 2010 -- CORAL SPRINGS, FL - The i-MOTO team is very happy to announce the signing of a very powerful driver pairing of brothers Mark and Mathew Pombo. Mark and Mat will pilot one of the team's Mazdaspeed 3's to contest for the drivers and manufacturers championship in the Continental Cup ST Class of the Grand Am series for 2011. Team principle Glenn Bocchino states "Mark and Mat bring a ton of talent and experience to i-MOTO, they come from a rich family history of success in racing, I fully expect the Pombo brothers to be challenging for a drivers championship!"
Since 1989 Mat Pombo gathered multiple wins, poles, championships in SCCA spec Miata, Formula Mazda and most recently 1 win/2 podiums in 3 races in 2010 Mazda SCCA Pro Racing Playboy MX-5 cup.
Mark began his racing career at the ripe old age of 5 years old. Dominating the Quarter Midgets series where he won most every event he entered. Since then Mark has had multiple wins, poles and championships in SCCA spec Miata, Spec Race Ford and most recently 4 Poles, 3 wins, finished in top 5 thirteen out of eighteen races and set 6 fast race laps out of 18 total races in the SCCA Pro VW TDI Cup Series. Mark also enlisted in the United States Army in 2002, with tours of duty in IRAQ. Serving our country for eight years. A real American hero!
