7th on Mid-Ohio Grid for Burrows and Hopwood
Lexington, OH (20 June 09)--Trevor Hopwood scored 7th on the grid for Sunday's Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge ST class race after posting a fast lap time of 1:38.930-seconds in the RSR Motorsports -prepared No. 198 Fischer Skis MINI Cooper on Saturday morning.
Burrows and Hopwood are hoping to keep their positive progression of results moving on the right trajectory this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, having scored 6th at Lime Rock Park and then 5th at Watkins Glen.
The qualifying result will help in that effort, although Hopwood was still left frustrated by the session.
"The car was much better than it's been all weekend so I was able to set a couple good baseline laps in, but then on my flyer I got completely blocked by a Civic," said the 2007 KONI Champ. "There was a third car that was going ridiculously slow, and the Civic didn't know what to do so I guess she decided the best thing was to just park it at the apex of turn 8. And that of course blew my lap."
Burrows and Hopwood are going to make the most of the afternoon off with a trip to Cedar Point for a different set of thrills to kill some downtime before Sunday's 1:30 PM race stat time.
