ENTERING THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON IN THE TOP 5
(Lexington, OH-June 19, 2006) Heading into this week's Grand Am Cup race at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, Mikel Miller and regular co-driver Tim Traver currently occupy 5th and 9th respectively in the Grand Am Cup driver standings. The #83 Simplenet.com Porsche is 5th in team points. In late news after the Lime Rock round, it was announced that Mikel and his co-driver, Stew Tetreault, captured the Bernheim Improve Your Position Award at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day. Mikel and Stew moved up from a 31st place starting position to finish in 13th, for a net gain of 18 positions.
Returning to co-drive with Mikel this weekend in the #83 Simplenet.com Porsche 996, will be Tim Traver who was forced to miss the Lime Rock round due to previous commitments. Mikel enjoyed pairing up with Stew at Lime Rock and is looking forward to having Tim back as his co-driver. "Tim and I have quite a bit of experience driving together and against each other, and it's good to have him back".
Mikel has plenty of experience at Mid Ohio, having raced there and worked as an instructor with Skip Barber Racing School at the challenging 2.258 mile track in the hills of central Ohio. Mikel is hoping for a good showing this weekend. Still in the chase for both points races, he and Tim need to capitalize on the fast qualifying and heads up driving that they have become known for this season. "I've had a pretty good record at Mid Ohio, and I'd like nothing more than to get the win we've been close to a couple times this year. We got a third at VIR in April, but it happened after another car got disqualified, so we didn't get to go to the podium, time to make up for it with a win."
Mikel's website will be making its debut in time for the Mid Ohio race, as well. It will be the place to catch up with Mikel's news, photos and race reports. More details later this week.
