Atterbury, Aschenbach, Bucknum and Stout Well Prepared for Round Two of GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge

Virginia Beach, VA (March 3, 2011) - Mitchum Motorsports heads to Homestead-Miami International Speedway for round two of the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge this weekend. Fresh off of two top ten finishes with the #62 and #6 cars in the opening round at Daytona, the crew, cars and drivers are well prepared to continue the run for the championship.

It has been a month since the first round of the season at Daytona and Mitchum Motorsports has been hard at work continuing to develop the Camaros. In February the team spent several days at Carolina Motorsports Park working on setup, driver development, and parts testing. Team principal Chris Mitchum is pleased with the performance of the crew, cars and drivers thus far into the season and expects both cars to be challenging for the podium this weekend.

"Both cars (#62 and #6) were very fast at Daytona and with the improvements we came up with at the test at Carolina Motorsports Park we'll be even faster", said Mitchum. "Both sets of driver pairings are working out well as driving styles are compatible so we are able to set the cars up the way the drivers like them. Testing helps improve everything from driver ergonomics in the cockpit to parts reliability on track. Everyone is very comfortable with the car and I would look for us to show very well this weekend."

The team has been busy at the shop as well - preparing the cars, training and working out together as well as enjoying the unusually snowy winter in Virginia Beach. The race at Homestead-Miami will be a warm respite from the tough winter for the entire team.

This weekend's race marks the one-year anniversary of Mitchum Motorsports return to GRAND-AM racing, having first fielded the #62 Camaro at round two of the 2010 season. "We as an organization have come a long way this past year. We started with a relatively un-developed car and have worked on it making it very competitive, added a second car as well as a Porsche for a limited Rolex schedule, and are making a legitimate run for the championship this year", added Mitchum. "This is our first full year back with GRAND-AM and I am really proud of what we have accomplished so far. We are looking forward to continuing to push to the front of the pack each week."

Joey Atterbury and Lawson Aschenbach sit 6th in the GS class championship after a strong finish at Daytona while Jeff Bucknum and Robert Stout are 10th.
